Join Kate and other Illinois authors for the Starved Rock Reading Council's Young Author Celebration! Authors will visit schools and work with young readers, hand out awards, and celebrate books and reading!

Wednesday-Friday, April 19-21st

Downers Grove Author Fest kicks off its multi-day festivities with school visits and author talks. Join Kate and other Illinois writers as they work with young readers on writing and reading. Book signing and celebration from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Downers Grove Public Library.

Thursday, April 6th

Join Kate in Maryland for a Howard County Library System talk about the research and writing that went into The Detective's Assistant, which is a nominee for Maryland's coveted Black-Eyed Susan Award! Question and answer session follows the book talk, and there will be snacks too! 7 p.m. at the Miller Branch, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City.

Saturday, February 18th

The annual Anderson's Children's Literature Breakfast brings together authors from around the country! Kate will be among many Illinois authors participating in the celebration of children's lit, meeting area teachers and librarians.

It's the River Forest Young Authors Conference! Books! Writing! Reading! Awards! Kate will work with young readers and writers, and help celebrate reading and writing.

It's SCBWI Los Angeles, where hundreds of SCBWI members come together to learn about craft and celebrate books and authors at this three-day extravaganza! Kate will receive the 2016 Golden Kite Award for best middle-grade-fiction, as well as lead a breakout session on researching and writing historical fiction. Visit for more information.

Christmas in Manhattan at the New York Historical Society! The DiMenna Children's History Museum's "Reading into History" program will feature The Detective’s Assistant as its December book for families. It's the Texas Book Festival! And Kate polishes her boots and returns to her old stompin' grounds in the Lone Star State. One of the largest and most prestigious literary festivals in the country, the annual Texas Book Festival features more than 250 nationally and critically recognized authors, over 20 venues including the State Capitol, more than 80 exhibitors, live music, local food trucks, family activities, and countless opportunities to meet authors and fellow book lovers.

Kate gets to take part in Authors Under the Awning at Forest Park's Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore. She'll sign and sell at 7 p.m. along with two other history/mystery writers: Diane Pirrone who's latest book "We Will Have Our Revenge" is set in 1872 Chicago after the Chicago Fire and starts with a flashback to 1861, and Joan Bard-Collins' "Honor Above All" which is set in 1880s Chicago with Pinkerton, Sullivan, and other well-known characters. 7419 Madison Street, Forest Park, Illinois.



Tuesday, August 4th

Summer fun with Cupcake Cousins: Summer Showers as well as The Detective's Assistant, as Kate signs books at Between the Covers, East Main Street, Harbor Springs, Michigan. Stop by between 10 a.m. and noon, and pick up your copy along with a false mustache and – what else? – cupcakes!

Visit Horizon Books in Traverse City and catch The Detective's Assistant and Cupcake Cousins: Summer Showers in action. We'll have a reading, book signing, and what else? Kate will be joining with Sisters in Crime for signing and selling The Detective's Assistant from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
